Cameron Judge will not be returning to the Saskatchewan Roughriders

The Saskatchewan Roughriders have moved on from a potential reunion with Cameron Judge, per sources.

The Riders made a number of signings on Tuesday, including the addition of twin brothers Jordan and Justin Herdman-Reed. The Canadian linebackers fill the same role as Judge, who is currently waiting to exhaust NFL opportunities before signing a CFL contract.

With Judge not yet ready to make a decision on his future, the Riders had little choice but to dive into the free agent pool. There was no guarantee that Judge would have chosen to return to Saskatchewan and, had they waited, the team would have missed out on the chance to sign other key free agents.

Judge was the second overall pick of the 2017 CFL Draft. He was named the West Division’s Most Outstanding Canadian in 2019 and is 3DownNation‘s No. 1 CFL free agent.

The 26-year-old remains one of the league’s best young national defenders. In 38 career games, Judge has made 120 total tackles, seven sacks, two interceptions, and two forced fumbles.

If he signs a CFL contract in 2021, however, it won’t be with the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
