Two games into the 2019 season, Rene tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee. He missed the rest of that year and received a medical redshirt from the NCAA. The injury happened during the Tar Heels’ 28-25 victory over the University of Miami.

The six-foot-two, 208-pound cover man went to Episcopal High School in Virginia and was a four-star recruit before choosing UNC.

Rene was 3DownNation’s No. 2 rated CFL Draft prospect prior to the last NCAA season.
