Montreal Alouettes release 2019 second-round pick defensive lineman Nate Anderson

The Montreal Alouettes have released one of their top draft picks from 2019.

Defensive lineman Nate Anderson was cut by the team on Monday. Per sources, the move was made to save money against the salary cap.

Anderson was the No. 16 selection in the 2019 CFL Draft out of the University of Missouri. He recorded 33 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, one knockdown, and one forced fumble over two seasons with the Tigers.

The six-foot-two, 250 pounder has experience playing defensive end and defensive tackle. He appeared in eight games as a rookie with the Als in 2019, recording four total tackles.

Anderson remains just 23 years old, which means it’s only a matter of time before the Toronto native signs elsewhere.
