Head coach Mike Gundy said on his pre-game radio show that Hubbard has “chosen to go to the NFL.” He made the comment on Saturday morning ahead of Oklahoma State’s (6-3) game against Baylor (2-6).

Hubbard surprised many when he elected not to declare for the 2020 NFL draft following an outstanding 2019 season. He led the NCAA with 2,094 rushing yards and 21 touchdowns as a redshirt sophomore and was named the Big 12 Conference Offensive Player of the Year.

Insider Talk: CFL scouts, personnel experts comment on Chuba Hubbard’s NFL future

The native of Sherwood Park, Alta. hasn’t played since November 21 when he appeared to re-aggravate an existing leg injury. He was not enjoying nearly as strong of a season as he had a year ago, rushing for just 625 yards and five scores on 133 carries.

Hubbard has breakaway speed that could entice an NFL team to use a high-round draft pick on him. It’s also possible that a high snap count and lack of production from 2020 could see his 2021 NFL draft stock fall.
