Canadian receiver John Metchie III finds end zone in Alabama’s 60-point Kentucky blowout

Bama beatdown Kentucky on Saturday and the boy from Brampton played a role.

The Crimson Tide and Canadian receiver John Metchie III played their first game since Halloween on October 31. There was a bye week and following the planned week off, the match-up against the defending College Football Playoff champion, Louisiana State University was postponed due to COVID-19.

Alabama clearly used the time away from game action to work and ensure they were ready to step back between the white lines. Nick Saban’s group put a fulsome 60-point beating on the University of Kentucky. Metchie III recorded one catch for 18 yards which went for a touchdown in the 63-3 victory.

The rising star from the Flower City has 25 receptions for 535 yards and four touchdowns, averaging 21.4 yards per catch, through seven games. Alabama is an undefeated 7-0 and ranked No. 1 in the entire NCAA.

The Iron Bowl is next on the schedule: Auburn and Alabama showdown in one of the most storied rivalries in all of college football. It’s the first time Metchie III will be a starter in the high profile rivalry, which kicks off at 3:30 p.m. ET Saturday, November 28 on CBS.
