Cody Fajardo is always looking to help out his teammates — even when it comes to finding employment in the NFL.
The Saskatchewan Roughriders’ franchise quarterback wants the Jacksonville Jaguars to sign Truro, Nova Scotia native Brett Lauther.
Fajardo tweeted: Hey Jaguars if you want to end your kicker carousel sign Brett Lauther NOW you can thank me later!

Lauther opted out of his contract with the Riders in August to pursue the NFL. During two seasons with Saskatchewan, Lauther made 86-of-101 kicks (85 percent) with a long of 57 yards.
The Jags have used five placekickers this season — Josh Lambo, Brandon Wright, Aldrick Rosas, Stephen Hauschka, and Jon Brown.
Lambo played the first two games of the schedule before being placed on injured reserve with a hip injury. He has been excellent since signing with Jacksonville in 2017, connecting on 74-of-78 field goal attempts (94.9 percent).
Wright was waived with an injury settlement after missing an extra point attempt in Week 3. Rosas connected on four-of-five field goals in Week 4 but was moved back to the practice squad. Hauschka was released after missing both of his field goal attempts in Week 5.
Brown kicked for Jacksonville in Sunday’s 34-16 loss to the Detroit Lions having never made a field goal in a regular season football game at any level.
The college soccer player spent four years on practice rosters in Cincinnati (2016-2018) and San Francisco (2019) but never got into a real game. The Louisville product went one-of-two on field goals against Detroit, connecting from 31 yards out but missing from 32.
Jacksonville’s kickers have combined to make eight-of-twelve field goals (66 percent) en route to a 1-5 record. Lauther’s percentage with the Riders was nearly 20 points higher.
