Arizona Cardinals’ general manager Steve Keim clearly likes the versatile skillset quarterback Chris Streveler brings to the team.

Keim was asked about the Cards’ quarterback situation heading into Saturday’s 53-man roster deadline.

“Certainly, Chris Streveler has been a pleasant surprise and a guy that we liked in the evaluation process coming out of the CFL,” Keim said on Arizona Sports 98.7 FM radio.

“Not only his ability to throw the football and to do some of those things that have been impressive during camp, but his athleticism — the guy runs in the 4.4s, he’s physical, he’s got nice size, so there’s some potential to play on special teams as well.”

The 25-year-old Streveler threw for 2,698 yards in two seasons with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers along with 19 touchdowns and 19 interceptions. He rushed for 1,167 yards and 22 touchdowns, averaging 5.7 yards per carry.

Streveler was especially effective for the Bombers during the 2019 Grey Cup championship run in the post-season. That momentum was used to garner NFL intrigue, working out for the Cardinals, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Miami Dolphins before ultimately signing in Arizona.

Keim admitted he knew on Friday how many quarterbacks and which ones would be on the Cardinals final 53-man active roster, but he wouldn’t spill the beans.
