Former NFL receiver Josh Huff opts out of Calgary Stampeders contract

Calgary Stampeders receiver Josh Huff has opted out of his CFL contract, hopeful for another NFL shot.

Huff elected to exercise his option per the agreement between the three-down league and CFL Players’ Association following the cancellation of the 2020 season in Canada. He played 10 games for the Stamps in 2019, recording 37 receptions for 491 yards and one touchdown.

Huff played his NCAA football at the University of Oregon from 2010 to 2013. During his time with the Ducks, he grabbed 144 balls for 2,366 yards and 24 touchdowns. As a senior for Oregon, Huff caught 62 passes for 1,140 yards and 12 touchdowns. That triggered interest from NFL scouts.

The 28-year-old Huff was selected by the Philadelphia Eagles in the third round, 86th overall during the 2014 NFL draft. He spent parts of three seasons in Philly and finished the 2016 campaign with Tampa Bay. Overall, Huff has played 37 NFL games catching 51 passes for 523 yards and four touchdowns while returning 48 kick-offs for 1,237 yards and two touchdowns.

Huff has earned over $2.8 million in the NFL and he’s looking to add to that number.
