B.C. Lions veteran LB/DB Kenny Ladler opts out to pursue NFL opportunities

Veteran linebacker and defensive back Kenny Ladler has opted out of his CFL contract to be available for potential NFL employment.

Ladler signed a one-year contract with the B.C. Lions in February and he would be a free agent in the same month next year.

The 28-year-old Ladler signed a contract with Washington in January 2018 after working out for several teams south of the border. Last season, Ladler played one game making four tackles in Week 17 against the Dallas Cowboys.

During the 2018 schedule, Ladler played five games for Washington and three with the New York Giants, recording four total tackles.

He was a CFL all-star at strong-side linebacker in 2017, making 86 tackles, intercepting three passes and recovering two fumbles in 17 games. Ladler notched 70 tackles, two interceptions, one returned for a touchdown and one forced fumble in 17 games the previous year.

The Vanderbilt University product was signed as an undrafted NFL free agent by Buffalo in 2014 and played in two games, recording four tackles. He was released after training camp in 2015. Ladler’s earned nearly $800,000 while playing in the NFL.
