Green Bay Packers release Canadian DB Marc-Antoine Dequoy

The Green Bay Packers have released Canadian defensive back Marc-Antoine Dequoy.

Dequoy was trying to defy the odds and earn a spot in Green Bay after signing an undrafted free agent contract with the Packers in late April.

The University of Montreal product put on a show at the Carabins pro day in March and it supercharged his NFL interest. Two NFL teams, the Chicago Bears and Philadelphia Eagles were on hand at the Soccerplexe Catalogna.

The six-foot-three, 195-pounder turned heads when he ran a 4.35 forty-yard dash in March. His impressive testing numbers, paired with an appearance at the East-West Shrine Bowl in January helped him secure an NFL pact with the Packers.

Montreal selected Dequoy in the second round, 14th overall during the CFL draft on April 30. Current Alouettes general manager Danny Maciocia recruited and helped develop the rangy defender during his time playing USports football.

Dequoy led the Carabins with 37.5 tackles in 2019 and registered one tackle for loss, one pass breakup and three interceptions during eight regular season games. He had a game-sealing 85-yard interception return for a touchdown in the Dunsmore Cup upset at Laval and earned USports first-team All-Canadian status.

If Dequoy isn’t signed by another NFL team, expect the ratio-breaking talent to transition north of the border.
