As the clock ticks down on timeline for a 2020 CFL season and the league still searches for a government funding option, star Saskatchewan Roughriders receiver Shaq Evans has taken matters into his hands.

“F*** it I’m gonna set my own deadline CFL. If I don’t hear anything by Friday I’m just gonna assume the season cancelled,” the electric pass catcher wrote on Twitter.Sick of y’all playing games.”

Evans recorded 72 catches for a team-leading 1,334 yards and five touchdowns last year. After signing a new $190,000 contract this off-season, he had expressed excitement to be a part of what he expected to be a dynamic offence under new Saskatchewan offensive coordinator Jason Maas.

Like many players, Evans’ excitement appears to have soured because of the CFL’s continued pushing of deadlines and unwillingness to pay players unless games are played.

Star Hamilton Tiger-Cats receiver Brandon Banks has already made his intention to opt out of a shortened season clear, it now appears that the Riders top target will follow suit if the CFL continues to delay into next week. Evans very likely won’t be the last.
