Former Canadian Football League coach Beau Walker has been hired by Cesar Chavez High School in Arizona.

Head coach JR Alcantar announced the news on Twitter.

“Honored and proud to have hired Coach Beau Walker to our Varsity staff at Cesar Chavez High School. Coach brings a crazy amount of knowledge from D1 football to the CFL. Our kids are blessed to have him join our family. Welcome to the Champion family Coach,” Alcantar wrote.

Walker resigned from the Lions to pursue opportunities outside of the CFL. 2020 was set to be his first season in B.C., following head coach Rick Campbell to the West Coast after four years serving as an offensive assistant and running backs coach in Ottawa. Prior to the Redblacks, he spent seven years coaching at Oregon State University and had a one-year stint at the University of Nebraska.

The Cesar Chavez Champions play class 6A football, which is the highest level in the state. Walker leaves the CFL during the COVID-19 pandemic to coach high school football.
