Another Canadian prospect has inked a contract in the NFL.

Brown University defensive tackle Michael Hoecht will sign as a priority free agent with the Los Angeles Rams on Saturday after going unselected in the NFL draft.

Hoecht has extraordinary athleticsm for his six-foot-four, 295-pound frame as he demonstrated at his virtual pro day. He ran a 4.65 forty-yard dash while putting up 23 reps of 225 pounds on the bench press — a solid combination of speed and strength.

The native of Oakville, Ont. put his physical tools to good use with the Bears, recording 158 total tackles and 17 sacks.

Hoecht is one of the top players available in this year’s CFL draft. He will drop down CFL draft boards after signing in the NFL, but he should still be a relatively high selection on Thursday — he’s simply too talented to go unpicked for long.
