Ticats’ offensive lineman Mathieu Girard retires (again)

A member of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats’ offensive line has retired for a second time, veteran Mathieu Girard walked away from the game.

Girard played two seasons with the Ticats (2015-2016) during his original stint with the club, appearing in 35 games. The 28-year-old had retired once previously prior to the 2017 season, citing a number of factors in his decision to step off the football field.

He signed a three-year contract with the team just prior to the 2018 season and spent the past two years as a reserve blocker with the team. He was set to make approximately $130,000 in 2020.
