Alouettes bring Canadian offensive lineman Philippe Gagnon back to Montreal

The Montreal Alouettes have signed Canadian offensive lineman Philippe Gagnon to a one-year contract for the 2020 season.

Gagnon returns to the team that originally drafted him in 2016.

The six-foot-four, 311-pounder spent the 2019 season with the Ottawa Redblacks after playing his first three CFL seasons with the Als. He was drafted in the first round, second overall by Montreal in 2016, the 27-year-old has played 45-career games in the CFL, including 36 as a starter.

“We are very happy to add a player of Philippe’s caliber to our roster,” Alouettes general manager Danny Maciocia said. “His work ethic, his relentlessness and his toughness will be important assets on our offensive line, whose depth has just been greatly augmented.”

During his Canadian university career, Gagnon helped the Université Laval Rouge et Or win back-to-back Vanier Cups in 2012 and 2013.
