Canadian tight end Antony Auclair agrees to terms on one-year contract with Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Canadian tight end Antony Auclair has agreed to terms with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on a one year contract through the 2020 NFL season.

Auclair was placed on season-ending injured reserve last November. He suffered a toe injury against the Seattle Seahawks during Week 9. The 26-year-old was in his third season with the Bucs. He’s used primarily as a blocker but has 10 catches for 84 yards in his career so far.

The Notre-Dame-des-Pins native signed as an undrafted free agent in 2017 and played in eight games recording two catches for 25 yards during his rookie NFL season.

The six-foot-five, 254-pounder had 17 catches for 229 yards and two touchdowns in eight regular season games for the Laval University Rouge et Or in 2016. He recorded a team-high 70 receiving yards and one touchdown in Laval’s Vanier Cup championship victory that year.

Then Auclair garnered an invite to the East-West Shrine Game. After showing well in Florida, 17 NFL teams travelled to Quebec City to see Auclair perform at his pro day. That caused 10 NFL teams bring him in for a visit.

The Saskatchewan Riders selected Auclair in the fourth round, 30th overall in the 2017 CFL draft.

Auclair is healed and ready for action in 2020.
