Hard-hitting linebacker Micah Awe signs on with Bombers

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have signed American linebacker Micah Awe to a two-year contract through the 2021 season.

Awe is a three-year Canadian Football League veteran with 35 games played with B.C. and Toronto. Over that span, he’s recorded 129 defensive tackles, 25 special teams tackles, one sack, one interception and forced two fumbles.

Awe played 10 games for the Argos last season, registering 44 defensive tackles, six tackles on special teams, one sack and one interception. He would’ve been entering the final year of his contract with B.C. in 2018, however, the Lions released him in order to sign with the New York Jets.

The 26-year-old Awe went unselected in the 2016 NFL draft coming out of Texas Tech University and he spent some time on the Tampa Bay Bucs practice roster that season. Following an off-season stint with the Jets in 2018, Awe returned to the CFL.

Winnipeg inks a proven, versatile linebacker in Awe.
