The Edmonton Eskimos have signed free agent American quarterback Antonio Pipkin through the 2020 season.

The 24-year-old Pipkin was an early free agent after being released by Montreal prior to a roster bonus of $8,500 on February 1, followed by a series of $5,000 roster bonuses on March 1, April 1 and May 1.

Pipkin initially joined the Alouettes in June 2017 and saw his first CFL action late that year. But he was cut by Montreal in June 2018, although later re-signed following injuries to the team’s other quarterbacks.

Pipkin entered the 2019 season as Montreal’s starting pivot but lost the job to Vernon Adams Jr. after suffering an injury in the team’s first regular season game against Edmonton.

The Tiffin University product dressed for 27 games as a member of the Als, completing 99-of-182 passes for 1,295 yards, four touchdowns and eight interceptions. He also ran the ball 58 times for 318 yards and nine scores.

The Eskimos add Pipkin to the quarterback mix which includes starter Trevor Harris and Logan Kilgore.
