Riders hire Kent Maugeri as special teams coach

Saskatchewan Roughriders head coach Craig Dickenson has hired Kent Maugeri as the Riders’ special teams coach.

Maugeri will be entering his fifth season with the green and white and his first on special teams. He makes the move after spending three seasons as Saskatchewan’s running backs coach.

In 2019, the Riders led the league in rushing yards and had the second best rushing average per game. Maugeri first joined the team in 2016 and worked with the offence as a quality control coach. Prior to coming to Saskatchewan, he spent seven seasons as a full-time assistant coach at Lindenwood University.

Terry Eisler spent last season with the Riders as the special teams coach, but Dickenson informed Eisler his contract would not be renewed. That meant Eisler left Saskatchewan to rejoin the Eskimos as running backs coach where he previously served as special teams coordinator (2013), defensive and special teams assistant (2012) and running backs coach (2007-2009).

In addition to head coaching duties, Dickenson will remain the Riders’ special teams coordinator.
