Former CFL receiver Duke Williams active for Buffalo Bills Wild Card playoff game

The Buffalo Bills have activated receiver Duke Williams for their NFL Wild Card playoff game Saturday afternoon against the Houston Texans.

Williams made six receptions for 108 yards in the Bills’ season-ending 13-6 loss to the New York Jets. The 26-year-old is in his first season with Buffalo and dressed for the first time since October last week following eight weeks as a healthy scratch. He finished the regular season with 12 catches for 166 yards and one touchdown — a game-winning TD in his NFL debut.

The roster spot was earned in Western New York following a consistently strong training camp and pre-season performance from Williams. He grabbed the attention of Buffalo’s young, up-and-coming franchise quarterback Josh Allen.

Williams caught 88 passes during the 2018 CFL season for a league-leading 1,579 yards and 11 touchdowns. At 6-foot-3 and 225 pounds, Williams provides a big frame and adds a physical presence to the Bill’s receiving core.

Buffalo finished the season 10-6 and visit 10-6 Houston for just the second post-season game for the Bills in 20 years.
