Canadian receiver Chase Claypool capped his NCAA career with an MVP performance in the Camping World Bowl.
Claypool made seven receptions for 146 yards and one touchdown in the University of Notre Dame’s 33-9 victory against Iowa State University. The six-foot-four, 229-pound Claypool was a mismatch versus the Cyclones’ small secondary.

The Abbotsford, B.C. native was named the Irish’s Most Valuable Player for the 2019 season, making 66 catches for 1,037 yards and 13 touchdowns. He totaled 150 grabs for 2,159 yards and 19 touchdowns over four seasons with Notre Dame.
“For a long time, something like this was a dream. It was something that was a dream that couldn’t be reached, but I hope I’m an example of someone if you just keep on dreaming then that dream will come true,” Claypool said.
“Being so far away from home in another country, you need a family that’s going to have your back through the ups and downs and these guys did that every step of the way. If it wasn’t for them I probably wouldn’t be here right now. It’s hard — thankfully I have a good family to lean on.”

The NFL draft is set for April 23-25 in Paradise, Nevada and Claypool is projected to be a Day 1 or Day 2 selection. Claypool is currently the second-ranked prospect for the 2020 CFL draft, but don’t be surprised if he isn’t selected until the later rounds on April 30. Given his level of production, NCAA pedigree, speed, and size, there’s little reason to believe Claypool will ever play a down in the CFL.
Claypool has accepted an invite to the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Alabama, the top all-star game for senior NFL draft prospects. The week starts on Monday, January 20 with measurements, practices and meeting followed by the game which is scheduled for Saturday, January 25 at 2:30 PM ET at Ladd-Peebles Stadium and live on NFL Network.
It’s a chance for Claypool to increase his NFL draft stock that is sure to improve as the process goes along.
