Canadian OL Justin Lawrence re-signs with Stampeders

The Calgary Stampeders have signed national offensive lineman Justin Lawrence to a two-year contract that runs through the 2021 season.

Selected in the fifth round by the Stamps in 2018, Lawrence dressed for all 18 regular season contests in his second year and made a total of seven starts including six at centre and one at left guard. The University of Alberta product also was in uniform for the Western Semi-Final. Lawrence played six games as a reserve offensive lineman during his rookie campaign.

“Justin has shown great progress during his time with the Stampeders and I believe he has room to grow even more,” president and general manager John Hufnagel said in a statement. “I’m pleased that he has chosen to remain with the red and white.”

At the university level, the Spruce Grove, Alta., product earned first-team Canada West and all-Canadian honours for the University of Alberta in 2017. He was a first-team conference all-star at guard in 2015 and a second-team conference all-star at centre in 2016.

“I’m extremely excited to be staying in Calgary,” Lawrence said. “Over the last two years with the team, it’s really become home for me and I’m looking forward to getting back on the field with the Stampeders.”
