Riders hire former Stampeders scout Kyle Carson as director of player personnel

The Saskatchewan Roughriders have hired former Calgary Stampeders’ scout Kyle Carson as director of player personnel, per sources.

Riders’ general manager Jeremy O’Day had an open position after shifting Mike Davis from the role to defensive line coach.

Carson spent eight seasons with the Stamps, six as a scout. He joined Calgary as an intern in 2012 then served as a scouting assistant and coordinator of football operations. Strong work in those capacities earned Carson a promotion to CFL draft coordinator while becoming a trusted personnel man.

The Edmonton native was responsible for evaluating Canadian talent at the USports and NCAA levels. He was actively involved in scouting American talent, including attending NFL training camps. Carson played a major part in organizing off-season free agent camps throughout the United States. During the season, Carson pitched in as a pro scout preparing scouting reports on the opponent each week.

Calgary made it to four Grey Cups during Carson’s time with the Stamps, winning two (2014 and 2018).
