‘Great chance’ Eskimos rest QB Trevor Harris against Riders

Edmonton head coach Jason Maas is leaning towards keeping quarterback Trevor Harris on the sidelines against the Riders in Week 21.

“I don’t think he’s going to be playing in this game, but he’s definitely going to be practicing during the week,” Maas said on his weekly Eskimos coach’s show with 630 CHED.

“We’re afforded the opportunity to rest certain guys and that’s what we’re going to choose to do. There’s a great chance he’s not going to play. It’s more important for us to get him completely 100 percent healthy.”

Harris went down in Week 13 after suffering an injured forearm against Calgary and was replaced by Logan Kilgore, who managed to a 2-2 record in relief. The 33-year-old returned to the lineup in Week 20 passing for 321 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions while completing 27-of-27 passes.

Harris was an CFL Most Outstanding Player favourite before his injury, having passed for 3,706 yards, 15 touchdowns and just four interception in his first 12 starts of the season.

Saskatchewan can clinch first in the West with a win versus Edmonton and if Harris is out of the lineup, the odds increase in the Riders’ favour.
