Alex Singleton makes NFL debut on Sunday Night Football

A former Calgary Stampeder has officially dressed for his first NFL regular season game.

Alex Singleton was waived by the Philadelphia Eagles following training camp in August, but was later added to the practice roster. The Eagles cut veteran linebacker Zach Brown on Monday, which opened a spot on the active roster for Singleton.

The 25-year-old made 27 tackles and forced a fumble during four preseason games with Philadelphia. His original release was considered a surprise by many.

Singleton put up excellent numbers in three seasons in Calgary, recording 311 tackles, six forced fumbles, four sacks, and one interception in 54 regular season CFL games. He won the league’s Most Outstanding Defensive Player award in 2017 and a Grey Cup in 2018.

The Eagles trail the Dallas Cowboys 14-7 late in the first quarter.
