The Liga de Fútbol Americano Profesional (LFA) will be holding a draft for Canadian players in November.
The draft will feature 16 Canadian players who are currently not under contract with a professional football team. Most will be alumni of USports programs, while others may have backgrounds in the NCAA.
There are eight teams in the LFA, which will allow each club to draft two Canadians.

Canadian players will be provided with room and board during their LFA stint and paid 350.00 USD per game (after taxes). They will also be provided with health plans that cover medical expenses.
The season in Mexico runs from January to May, so participants will be eligible to participate in CFL training camps once the LFA season concludes. CFL teams have been asked to help compile a list of potential draft picks.
The draft is designed to strengthen the league’s CFL 2.0 initiative. Having global players on CFL roster is only half the plan — the other is creating opportunities for Canadians to play the game professionally in non-traditional markets.
