Edmonton has signed former B.C. Lions receiver Daniel Vandervoort.
Vandervoort was selected in the first round, third overall by the Lions during the 2017 CFL draft.
The 25-year-old played in 26 games over the last two seasons with B.C. but made just one catch for 25 yards. He was drafted when Wally Buono was in charge and released after training camp in 2019 when Ed Hervey was calling the shots.
Vandervoort was a standout receiver with the McMaster Marauders, making 148 receptions for 2,572 receiving yards and 29 career touchdowns. During his last year a Mac, he recorded 831 yards and five majors.
He checks in at six-foot-two, 204 pounds, ran a 4.63 hand-timed 40-yard dash at the CFL combine along with a 4.35 shuttle, 7.20 three-cone, 31.5-inch vertical, nine-foot, six-inch broad jump and 13 reps of 225 pounds on the bench press.
There were a number of teams high on Vandervoort as a pro prospect and he’s received another opportunity to realize his potential.
