Canadian LB Cory Greenwood leaves game in Calgary

One of the CFL’s top national players has left Saturday’s game due to injury.

Linebacker Cory Greenwood was injured late in the first half this afternoon against Hamilton and will not return.

Greenwood, 34, leads the CFL with 79 tackles in 12 games this season. He has also recorded three forced fumbles, two sacks, and one interception from his middle linebacker spot.

Greenwood is in his second season with Calgary, his first as a starter. He is expected to receive consideration for the league’s Most Outstanding Defensive Player and Most Outstanding Canadian awards come the end of the season.

The Stampeders trail the Ticats 18-9 in the third quarter at McMahon Stadium.
