Alouettes sign QB Matthew Shiltz to one-year extension

The Montreal Alouettes have signed quarterback Matthew Shiltz to a one-year contract extension through the 2020 season.

Shiltz came to the Als in 2017. He’s played in eight games completing 65-of-107 passes for 686 yards with two touchdowns against seven interceptions. The 26-year-old has been mostly a backup quarterback while in Montreal.

After a standout high school career, Shiltz earned a scholarship to Butler University where he played 17 games during his final two seasons. He completed 58.7 per cent of his passes for 4,037 yards, 29 touchdowns and 13 interceptions while rushing for 857 yards and 13 touchdowns.

Shiltz worked out for the Ottawa Redblacks and Calgary Stampeders prior to inking a deal with Montreal.
