Redblacks defensive lineman J.R. Tavai has been fined by the league office for his head shot on Alouettes quarterback Vernon Adams.
Tavai delivered a helmet-to-helmet hit on Adams during Ottawa’s Week 8 win over Montreal. Adams remains in concussion protocol after he suffered a “minor concussion”. There was no penalty called on the play.
It’s the first offence for Tavai, but only being given a fine is nowhere near the punishment that should have been levied, especially following the two-game suspension Simoni Lawrence received for knocking Zach Collaros out in Week 1.
