Two of the Alouettes’ star players were missing from practice Monday.
Quarterback Vernon Adams and running back William Stanback were not on the field with Montreal teammates.

Adams suffered a “minor concussion” during the Als’ Week 8 loss to Ottawa. That was caused by a healmet-to-helmet hit from Redblacks defensive lineman J.R. Tavai. Prior to leaving the game, Adams completed 13-of-25 passes for 120 yards while being intercepted once. He added six carries for 25 yards and two touchdowns on the ground.
The 26-year-old entered the game as Montreal’s starting quarterback after leading the team to three straight wins while Antonio Pipkin was sidelined. Adams assumed the starting role guiding the Alouettes to a 3-1 mark completing 73-of-111 passes (65 per cent completion rate) for 1,027 yards, five touchdowns against two interceptions and rushing 33 times for 199 yards and three touchdowns during that span.
Meanwhile, Stanback required assistance for getting to the Alouettes locker room after the game versus Ottawa. Stanback had 12 carries for 88 yards and four catches for 24 yards in the game. He was hurt on the final snap of the defeat.
Khari Jones didn’t know the nature or the gravity of William Stanback’s injury. The RB got injured on the last play of the game and needed help to leave the field. Hopefully it’s nothing serious. #Alouettes @CFL pic.twitter.com/TQDHGsjsV4

The 25-year-old has rushed 87 times for 592 yards and four touchdowns averaging 6.8 yards-per-carry while grabbing 15 passes for 161 yards in six games so far in 2019. It’s the first season Stancback earned the every-down back role in his pro career.
An #AlsMtl #MontreALS official says Adams Jr (concussion) is skipping practice for precautionary reasons, as is Stanback (LBI) who limped off the field after his team’s OT loss last Friday. #CFL

Montreal hosts Saskatchewan on Friday night and Adams won’t be on the field, but Stanback hasn’t been ruled out yet.
#AlsMtl Adams Jr remains in concussion protocol and will miss this Friday’s game vs #Riders. Stanback (LBI) might practise tomorrow and is day-to-day. #CFL

While QB @bigplay_va definitely will miss Friday’s game, #AlsMTL head coach Khari Jones said RB @WillStanback28 hasn’t been ruled out yet. Jones cautiously optimistic Adams will miss only one game
