Verenon Adams has officially taken the Alouettes starting quarterback job from Antonio Pipkin.

Pipkin left Montreal’s season-opener in Edmonton with a right leg injury. He completed 7-of-17 pass attempts for 57 yards plus five carries for 45 yards in almost three quarters of work. The 23-year-old generated a major score in the first quarter, throwing a 20-yard touchdown to prized free agent addition, receiver DeVier Posey.

Adams assumed the role guiding Montreal to a 3-1 mark completing 73-of-111 passes (65 per cent completion rate) for 1,027 yards, five touchdowns against two interceptions and rushing 33 times for 199 yards and three touchdowns.
