Johnstone was acquired by the Als in the 2018 CFL supplemental, sacrificing a 2019 first-round selection to secure the towering lineman. The 26-year-old played one game in 2018 and five so far in 2019.
Johnstone played for the University of Oregon starting at left tackle for 39 games, including all 13 in his senior season when he was named a first-team All-Pac 12 selection and second-team All-American in 2015.
He went unselected in the 2016 NFL draft, but he was signed by the Los Angeles Chargers and spent that season on the injured reserve. The Chargers released Johnstone in April 2017.
During his time in Montreal, Johnstone has battled injuries, but when healthy he can be a ratio-breaking tackle.
