Lions OL Joel Figueroa did not make the trip to Regina for Riders game

Figueroa was injured (right ankle) in the first half of B.C.’s 33-6 loss to Edmonton during Week 5. He started the first five games of the season on Mike Reilly’s blindside.

The six-foot-six, 320-pounder started all 18 games at left tackle for the Lions in 2018 after coming over from the Edmonton Eskimos in free agency. The 30-year-old has played in 67 career CFL regular-season games with Hamilton (2013-15), Edmonton (2016-17) and B.C.

Losing Figueroa is a major blow to the Lions who have been struggling to protect their multi-million dollar quarterback. With Figueroa out B.C. has flipped Canadian Brett Boyko over to left tackle from the right side.

THe Lions’ offensive line has allowed a league-worst 17 sacks.
