The Edmonton Eskimos have played national offensive lineman Matt O’Donnell on the six-game injured list.

O’Donnell suffered a knee injury in B.C. Week 5 win against the B.C. Lions. He started the first four Eskimos games of the season at right guard. Literally and figuratively, O’Donnell has played a big role in Edmonton’s offensive line that has allowed a league-low one sack.

Originally O’Donnell was drafted by the Saskatchewan Roughriders in the second round, 15th overall during the 2011 CFL Draft. He signed with the Cincinnati Bengals that same year and spent the season on the Bengals practice roster. He signed with the Eskimos in September 2012 after his rights were traded to Edmonton from Saskatchewan along with a fourth round pick in the 2013 CFL draft in exchange for American receiver Greg Carr and a fifth round selection in the 2013 CFL draft.
