Pipkin left Montreal’s season-opener in Edmonton with a right leg injury. He completed 7-of-17 pass attempts for 57 yards plus five carries for 45 yards in almost three quarters of work. The 23-year-old generated a major score in the first quarter, throwing a 20-yard touchdown to prized free agent addition, receiver DeVier Posey.
The lower leg injury had Pipkin on the one-game injured list for the Als last two games. Vernon Adams has taken over as the starting quarterback while Pipkin recovers, guiding Montreal to a 1-1 mark completing 35-of-59 passes (59 per cent completion rate) for 509 yards, two touchdowns against two interceptions and rushing 19 times for 114 yards and one touchdown.
Pipkin started four games for Montreal in 2018 winning two and losing two while throwing for 857 yards, one touchdown against eight interceptions completing 58 per cent of his passes and rushing 36 times for 211 yards and six touchdowns. Last October Montreal inked Pipkin to a contract extension which runs through the 2020 season.
After a strong training camp, Pipkin secured the starting job and when healthy he should return o the No. 1 role.
