Riders QB Zach Collaros ‘feels pretty good’ following head shot

Saskatchewan has been keeping tabs on quarterback Zach Collaros.

“We talked to Zach the other day, he’s back home in Hamilton. he’s going to come back after the bye week, he’s feeling fine,” Riders head coach Craig Dickenson said.

The 30-year-old was down on the field for a couple minutes and walked off under his own power. As he went to the sidelines, Collaros was visibly upset about the hit.

Collaros was placed on the six-game injured list following a shoulder to the head from Ticats linebacker Simoni Lawrence in Week 1 and not returning to the game after failing concussion protocol. The veteran quarterback missed four games last season due to concussions.

“He’s on six-game so we can’t practice him. We’ll visit during the bye week – Jeremy and I, the doctors and Zach – and try to come up with a plan,” Dickenson said.

“He feels pretty good. He’ll be back on I believe the 13th of July.”
