Ticats’ Simoni Lawrence has appeal hearing set for July

Ticats linebacker Simoni Lawrence has a date for his grievance case.

Simoni Lawrence appeal hearing will now be held on July 9th. This means he will be able to play in 3 games before then. @CFL had requested June 25, @CFLPA had requested 28th. Neither side could accomodate the other. So now we wait & every play he makes is a bad look for all sides

Lawrence was suspended two games by commissioner Randy Ambrosie for a head shot on Riders quarterback Zach Collaros during the CFL season opener in Week 1. Saskatchewan placed Collaros on the six-game injured list following the incident.

“I feel bad about it because I don’t want to see anybody get hurt. I just try to play my career as hard and as physical as possible. If I make a mistake here and there it’s just a mistake. I’m never going to go out there head-hunting for a player,” Lawrence told TSN.

“I’m not really allowed to talk about the case that’s about to take place. I believe in a process. I don’t believe in what opinionated people think.”

Ambrosie was deeply disappointed Lawrence appealed the decision and the CFLPA responded to the misleading statement from the commish.

The process is going to take a while to play out.
