O’Brien spent the 2017 and 2018 seasons in Edmonton. The Minneapolis native came into the league with Ottawa in 2014 and spent three seasons with the Redblacks. He has played in 17 games completing 61-of-107 passes for 704 yards with two touchdowns against eight interceptions.
O’Brien completed 15-of-26 passes for 93 yards in Edmonton’s two pre-season games before he was released by the the Eskimos.
B.C. has Mike Reilly, Ricky Lloyd, Austin Apodaca, and Grant Kraemer currently on the roster as the quarterback position. But Lloyd, who the Lions are high on, has been under concussion protocol. That’s created a need for the Lions at the QB spot.
