Saskatchewan Roughriders head coach Craig Dickenson doesn’t want any microphones around him on the sideline due to fear of them catching an expletive like brother and Calgary Stampeders bench boss Dave Dickenson.
During the CFL playoffs last year, a TSN camera and mic picked up Dickenson referring to something about “fucking Canadian” during a rant regarding the officiating in the West Final. It turned out to be “Fucking Canadian Mafia” in reference to the top three Winnipeg Blue Bombers staffers: president Wade Miller, general manager Kyle Walters and head coach Mike O’Shea. Dickenson was fined by the league and apologized both publicly and privately.
“I’m hoping there’s no mic’s near me when I say something inappropriate,” Dickenson said prior to Friday’s exhibition tilt. “I’m hoping to not do that.”
The older Dickenson (Craig, 47) is learning from his fiery younger brother (Dave, 46).
It will be the first time – pre-season version – the Dickenson brothers match wits as head coaches at McMahon Stadium when the Riders visit the Stampeders.
