OUA offensive linemen Drew Desjarlais & Jesse Gibbon to visit New York Jets

Two of this year’s first-round CFL draft picks continue to get looks south of the border.

Windsor’s Drew Desjarlais and Waterloo’s Jesse Gibbon are getting a visit with the New York Jets this week after the pair went without contract offers at a recent mini-camp with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Jets haven’t selected an interior blocker in any of the past three NFL drafts. The club has signed an undrafted Canadian in each of the past two years, adding Geoff Gray in 2017 and Dakoda Shepley in 2018. Gray and Shepley have since signed CFL contracts with the Bombers and Riders, respectively.

Contract talks between Desjarlais and the Bombers are said to be going well. Should he not receive an offer from the Jets, Desjarlais is expected to ink a deal with the Bombers shortly thereafter.
