The 24-year-old went unselected in the 2018 NFL draft. New Orleans invited Silvers to the Saints’ rookie mini-camp, but Silvers did not receive a contract after it was over.

During four seasons at Troy University, Silvers produced 10,677 yards, 71 touchdowns against 29 interceptions with a 64.4 completion rate. He added 237 carries for 457 yards and 16 touchdowns on the ground.

Silvers joins a Jets quarterback group that includes Sam Darnold, chosen third overall in last year’s NFL draft, veteran Trevor Siemian and 2017 third round pick, 87th overall, Davis Webb.
