NFL officials visit Investors Group Field in Winnipeg

The National Football League has scouted out Investors Group Field, according to Winnipeg Free Press reporter Jeff Hamilton.

Hamilton reports: NFL officials were in Winnipeg last week to get an up-close look at Investors Group Field and its facilities. There was also a series of meetings to go over logistics of hosting the proposed game.

The Bombers are on the road Friday, August 23 in Edmonton during Week 11, the same time Week 3 of the NFL’s pre-season would take place. The promoter wants to play the pre-season contest between the Oakland Raiders and Green Bay Packers on that specified date.

After it was known Regina exited the running to host NFL pre-season game between the Raiders and Packers, the Blue Bombers said “the Winnipeg Football Club is always exploring opportunities to host events at Investors Group Field.”

Winnipeg has never hosted an NFL game of any kind, but that seems as though it could change in 2019.
