Former Eskimos LB Deon Lacey signs extension with Buffalo Bills

Linebacker Deon Lacey has earned another season in Buffalo.

The Bills signed Lacey for the 2019 season after spending the last two seasons in Western New York. Lacey has been a special teams ace, leading the team in snaps, for Buffalo playing in all 16 games during both the 2017 and 2018 season.

Lacey led Edmonton with 87 tackles in 2016 while recording three interceptions, one returned for a touchdown, one fumble recovery and one sack in 18 games. In three years with the Eskimos the six-foot-two, 229-pounder played 54 games making 114 defensive tackles, 68 special teams tackles, seven sacks, four forced fumbles and three interceptions.

Lacey stood out in the CFL which earned him a contract with the Miami Dolphins. He was waived after training camp in 2017, the Bills claimed Lacey the next day and employed him ever since.

When Lacey came out of West Alabama, the Dallas Cowboys signed him to an undrafted free agent contract, but didn’t make it out of training camp. Taking the CFL route to put together strong film earned Lacey the second shot at an NFL career.
