Ticats re-sign linebacker Simoni Lawrence, fans rejoice

Simmy HOV is coming back to the HAM.

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats announced Monday they re-signed veteran linebacker Simoni Lawrence to a two-year contract, just a day before the 30-year-old was set to become a free agent.

One of the most popular Ticats since joining the club via trade in a 2013 with Edmonton, Lawrence registered 68 tackles and three sacks last season. He has recorded 435 career tackles, 22 sacks and eight interceptions while playing 113 career games (97 starts.)

Lawrence was the East Division’s top defensive player and a CFL all-star in 2015 and has made two Grey Cup appearances with the Ticats in 2013 and 2014.
