Alouettes expected to name former NFL coach Bob Slowik defensive coordinator

The Montreal Alouettes are expected to name Bob Slowick defensive coordinator, per sources.

The 64-year-old spent five seasons with Green Bay while current Alouettes head coach Mike Sherman was the bench boss and general manager for the Packers from 2000-2005.

Slowik was the defensive coordinator for one season alongside Sherman in Green Bay and held the same title with the Chicago Bears, Cleveland Browns and Denver Broncos over 20-plus years coaching in the NFL. After a 2004 schedule in which the Packers ranked 25th in yards allowed (over 346 yards per game) while giving up 33 touchdown passes (a team record), Sherman elected to let Slowik go and hire a different defensive coordinator.
