Sherritt signed with the Eskimos and spent his entire eight year CFL career playing in Edmonton.

Sherritt won the CFL’s Most Outstanding Defensive Player Award in 2012 and earned a Grey Cup ring when the green and gold won the 2015 CFL championship.

“J.C. will go down as one of the best Eskimos of all time,” Eskimos General Manager Brock Sunderland said in a statement “He defines what it means to do things the Eskimo Way, and I know he will have as much success in his post-playing career as he did on the field.”

Sherritt played 109 career games making 552 total tackles, 17 forced fumbles, 15 sacks, 14 interceptions, six fumble recoveries and scored one touchdown.
