Riders allow Kenny Shaw to test free agent market early

The Saskatchewan Roughriders have released reciver Kenny Shaw.

The move allows Shaw to hit the free agent market early. It does not appear to be related to an NFL opportunity as some other recent release – Sam Eguavoen – have been.

Shaw signed with the Riders in August and he played in three games making 11 receptions for 153 yards.

The soon to be 27-year-old signed a two-year contract with the Ottawa Redblacks in February 2017, but after playing three games while recording six catches for 66 yards Shaw tore his ACL, ending his season.

Shaw caught 77 passes for 1,004 yards and five touchdowns in 2016 when he rose to prominence in the CFL with the Toronto Argonauts.
