Lions lock down left tackle Joel Figueroa for two more seasons

Offensive lineman Joel Figueroa is staying on the west coast.

The B.C. Lions have signed Figueroa to a two-year contract extension through the 2020 season.

The six-foot-six, 320-pounder started all 18 games at left tackle for the Lions in 2018 after coming over from the Edmonton Eskimos in free agency.

“We are a quarterback-driven league and protecting that asset is of critical importance to our success,” general manager Ed Hervey said in a statement. “Signing Joel was a top priority for us and securing his consistent and dominant style of play at the left tackle position for the next two seasons cannot be understated.”
