Ticats have reached out to other teams about defensive coordinator role

The Ticats have already begun their search for a defensive coordinator.

Jerry Glanville stepped down on Friday leaving Hamilton looking for a person to fill the role.

“He had called me specifically a little bit earlier in the week and just said that there were some things at home that he needed to attend to and that he would not be returning with us,” Ticats head coach Orlondo Steinauer said on TSN radio.

“It was really a personal matter that has nothing to do with his health. Jerry is fine.”

Steinauer had wanted Glanville to return but he’s already been in touch with possible replacements.

“We reached out to teams to see the availability of some people,” Steinauer said.

The 45-year-old was the Ticats defensive coordinator for four seasons from 2013-2016, but he hasn’t thought much about taking over the role itself.

“A lot of that depends on the search and people’s interest in being here,” Steinauer said.
